A UAE startup company known as Acacus Technologies has just signed a deal that will soon bring driverless vehicles to the streets of the UAE in the not so distant future.
So far, the company has one client already lineup up; Dubai Police. Renowned for their impressive fleet of the latest sports cars, SUV’s and other desirable machinery, Acacus Technologies will install the self-driving functionality in existing police cars.
Having signed all the paperwork required, the revamped police cars will patrol the streets in the UAE without the use of a driver as early as 2020.
We can’t wait for a driverless Veryon!
Paperwork was signed this morning by the general command of the Dubai Police department, major-general Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, commander-in-chief of Dubai and founder and CEO of Acacus Technologies Talal Ben Halim.
This is just one of many cutting-edge technologies being introduced to Dubai. Flying taxis and high-speed trains have already been announced, and with the addition of self-driving police cars, the Emirates status as a smart city continues to rise.
Acacus Technology was ranked among the top 100 start-ups by Forbes Middle East in 2017.
