Toyota unveiled the new Land Cruiser 70 SUV to the world at an event in Japan. The Land Cruiser’s line-up is now complete with the new Land Cruiser 70 Heavy-Duty Series being added to its portfolio. Here is what the 2024 Land Cruiser 70 has to offer.
Toyota has not revealed many details about the Land Cruiser 70. What we know is the new LC 70 will feature a bare-bones design inside and out and harks back to its predecessor model introduced in 2014. After nearly 10 years, Toyota has updated its Heavy-Duty 70 Series SUV and given it an all-new engine and a new design.
2024 Land Cruiser 70 Series Exterior
The Rugged design of the 70 Series Land Cruiser is evident in the new model. The exterior of the new SUV features a boxy design with an upright stance and squared wheel arches giving it a brawny look.

The new Land Rover 70 measures 4,890mm in length, 1,870mm in width, 1,920mm in height and features a wheelbase of 2,730mm.
Toyota launched the Land Cruiser back in the year 1951 called the BJ series, which serves as the base model for the evolution of the SUV. And the 70 Series Land Cruiser is very much a part of this rich heritage.

As mentioned earlier, the new LC 70 takes a minimalistic design and feature approach. And this is seen on the inside with an analogue instrument cluster and there is no infotainment on offer too.

2024 Land Cruiser 70 Series Engine, Gearbox & Drivetrain
The 2024 LC 70 will be sold only with a 2.8L inline-four-cylinder diesel engine paired with a 6-speed AT. The engine produces 204hp and 500Nm peak torque. The SUV continues to feature the 4×4 hardware that includes:
- Locking Differentials
- Low-range Gearbox
- Drive Modes
- Traction Control
- Hill-descent Control
Toyota has confirmed it will retain the V8 turbo-diesel paired with a 5-speed manual transmission for the Australian market. Though Toyota hasn’t confirmed the availability of this powertrain option for the Middle East, we expect the grand V8-Manual combo to be retained here as well because of how popular it is around these parts.
Alongside the 2024 Land Cruiser 70 Series model, Toyota also unveiled the new Land Cruiser Prado dubbed as the Land Cruiser 250. With the introduction of two new SUVs, the Land Cruiser brand is now available in Station Wagon, Light-Duty and Heavy-Duty SUV series.
