It’s not just the Dubai Police force that is continuously adding new vehicles to their fleet, Dubai Taxi is also expanding its fleet which now includes a pickup truck.
Ideally suited for families who are heading to the mountain town, the special Hilux fitted with a TRD kit seats up to four passengers and has plenty of space to carry an assortment of outdoor items.
“Hatta Taxi facilitates carrying good and four people to and from Dubai and has been in service since September last year,” The Roads and Transport Authority said.
The new Hilux Dubai Taxi is not strictly available for passengers commuting to the city; Hatta residents can also book the special taxi to get around town or even venture to Dubai.
As of writing, two Toyota Hilux Dubai Taxi cabs are in use as a pilot project. “We are measuring the customer’s demand on the service, and we are planning to increase our vehicles in the future depending on the market demand,” explained an RTA Spokesman.
As per the RTA, residents in Hatta can get a 50% discount on their total fare at the end of the trip.
