Since the BRZ launched, fans have begged and pleaded the Japanese marquee to produce a BRZ STi version of the coupe. It appears one could be on the way.
Subaru hasn’t revealed any information of the BRZ STi, but they were kind enough to show off a single image of the boot lid. Attached to the decklid as you can clearly see, is a spoiler with STi markings on the side fins.
Recently, reports have spotted a BRZ STi test model traversing the streets of the USA, with most noting the evident rear spoiler attached.
It’s worth mentioning that those who have witnessed the prototype have claimed the vehicle will not pack any form of forced induction. Sorry, no turbocharger or supercharger to report on.
This leaves the STi with aerodynamic, visual and possible chassis modifications to improve handling. You’ll have to make due with the four-cylinder 2-litre boxer motor mated to either a manual or auto gearbox powering the rear wheels and pumping out just over 200 horses.
More information about the Subaru BRZ STi is to be revealed on the 8th of June which is just over a week away. We can’t wait to see what the Japanese brand has in store for the sporty two-door.
Even though the BRZ STi will be shown off in a few days, we’re still anticipating a turbo or supercharger to added at some stage to fulfil our checklist.
