Smart, an electric car brand jointly owned by Mercedes-Benz, has entered the UAE market through a new partnership with AW Rostamani Group. The launch event was held recently at Dubai’s Armani Hotel, with Burj Khalifa as its backdrop. This marks a strategic move in Smart’s global expansion as it brings its electric vehicle (EV) lineup to the UAE market.
Introduction of Smart’s EV Lineup
The Smart #1 and #3 models presented during the launch are available in three trims: Pro+, Premium, and Brabus. The Brabus variant of Smart #3 includes a performance enhancement, reaching 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.
Smart #1 is designed as a sport utility vehicle with a spacious, tech-focused interior, while Smart #3 features a sportier coupe design with a distinctive shark-nose front and sleek lines. Both models come in various colour options, with the Brabus trim available for customers looking for a higher-end finish.
We expect the prices to start at around AED 180,000 when launched in the UAE.
Smart Showroom Opening on Sheikh Zayed Road
In addition to the launch, Smart has officially opened its showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai. The new showroom offers customers a chance to explore the latest Smart models, #1 and #3, designed for urban living with a focus on efficiency and style. Visitors are welcome to view these models’ innovative features, including performance options for a range of driving needs.
Michel Ayat, CEO of AWR Automotive, spoke on Smart’s launch, stating, “Our partnership with Smart supports the UAE’s sustainability initiatives, aligning with the UAE’s net-zero goals. Together, we intend to redefine EV expectations in the UAE.”
Yen Fong Raad, GM of smart Mobility at AWR, highlighted the market potential: “With the support of Mercedes-Benz and Geely, we aim to introduce the smart brand to a wider audience in the UAE, where innovation and sustainability are key.”
Mandy Zhang, Global CMO of Smart Automobile, commented on the brand’s direction, stating, “Launching in Dubai aligns with Smart’s vision. This market introduction is intended to foster urban transformation toward sustainability and premium automotive technology.”
Partnership with AW Rostamani Group
The collaboration between Smart and AW Rostamani Group is built on shared goals for sustainability and premium mobility in the UAE. Backed by Mercedes-Benz and Geely, the partnership leverages both companies’ experience and resources to introduce Smart’s EV models to the UAE, aiming to serve the country’s growing interest in zero-emission transport. This introduction allows current Mercedes-Benz owners in the UAE an option to expand their vehicle lineup with Smart’s EV range.
Alignment With UAE’s Sustainability Goals
The introduction of Smart cars in the UAE aligns with the nation’s sustainability targets, including net-zero emissions by 2050. Smart’s EV models contribute to AW Rostamani Group’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives, which focus on responsible, sustainable operations in the region’s automotive sector.
Smart’s entry into the UAE market reflects an industry-wide shift toward premium electric vehicles. With the support of AW Rostamani Group and the new showroom now open on Sheikh Zayed Road, Smart’s #1 and #3 models offer options to UAE consumers interested in sustainable, intelligent mobility solutions.
