Serving as part of Dubai’s expansion plan for the upcoming 2020 Expo, the RTA has other strategies for improving bridges, crossings, underpasses and roads to provide easier travel for all road users in the Emirate which continues to see an increase in road users every year.
Another part of the RTA’s expansion plan includes an additional Metro line for the upcoming exhibition. Branching off from the red line, the extension will pass through Discovery Gardens, Furjan, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai Investment Park and will continue on to the location of the Expo 2020, a handful of these stations will be underground while the rest will be above ground.
Schuleded to be completed five months before the Expo starts in 2020, stations after JLT will be closed for commuters as is the Nakheel & Harbour Tower multi-level Park-N-Ride facility. For passengers that need to go beyond JLT metro station, the RTA has provided free replacement bus services.
