In its current guise, the Q3 has been around for a long time. Based on the 2006 Cross Coupe Quattro concept, it’s about time for an update. Yesterday, Audi did just that by unveiling the second generation 2019 Audi Q3.
Sporting a fresh face, the 2019 Audi Q3 borrows styling cues from the upcoming Q8. Bolted to the front is a sportier front bumper, sleek new headlights that match the ones found on the A3 Sportback with additional flare, large taillights and a bold grille with vertical grille bars.
Inside, buyers will find plenty of tech inside the 2019 Audi Q3 including Audi’s signature 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit dashboard cluster and an 8.8-inch centre display infotainment system with an optional 10-inch unit available.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standard along with front USB ports, rear passengers also have access to two USB ports of their own. But the real highlight with the 2019 Q3 is the Connect portfolio with “swarm intelligence”. This new feature allows the 2019 Audi Q3 to communicate with other vehicles to relay information about road hazards, speed limits and even parking spots available.
As cool as that sounds, Audi has confirmed it will be available for customers in the EU after launch but other markets are unknown.
Regarding safety, the all-new Q3 is equipped with rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, forward emergency braking, active lane assist and adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist.
In Europe, the 2019 Q3 will be available with four engines – one diesel and three petrol units all with 2.0-litre, four-cylinder direct injection units with turbochargers. Front-wheel or Quattro drive is available connected to either a six-speed manual box or a fast-shifting seven-speed S Tronic gearbox. Of the four, three of them will most likely be available in the UAE with the exception of the TDI unit.
The new 2019 Audi Q3 will arrive in Europe in November this year, while other market availability will be announced later.
