Porsche must have a new rule in the factory, “Every model we create must have GTS attached to it at one point or another”. 911 models have it, the Cayenne, Panamera, Boxster and Cayman all have it, however, there is one model missing from the list though, Macan. As of the Toyko Autoshow that has all changed, as Stuttgart’s finest have unveiled the Porsche Macan GTS. They say it’s sportier than the Macan and filters in between the Porsche Macan S and Turbo models.

Porsche-Macan-GTS-6The new Porsche Macan GTS gets a newly developed chassis, alongside some upgraded brakes at each corner and most importantly a boost in horsepower over Macan S models, and keeps the twin-turbocharged V6 3.6 litre petrol engine. This brings the total up to 360 horsepower plus 500 Nm of torque, an increase of 41 Nm. 256 km/h is the GTS’s top speed and it can run 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. For those who want a little bit more, an optional sports Chrono package is available to decrease the time to 5 seconds. The engine is attached to seven-speed PDK dual clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel drivetrain.

Porsche-Macan-GTS-8Increasing the power is not the only “faster” addition the German manufacturer have tacked onto the SUV, now there’s black highlights, GTS badging which are also black and sportier 20-inch rims that are also, you guessed to black. Porsche have gone on to include Porsche Active Suspension Management as standard (Standard on Turbo models, not entry-level Macan’s) and lowered the vehicle to sit 10 mm lower than Turbo’s.

Brakes at the front have been borrowed from the Turbo S (14.2 inches) and rear brakes are the same ones used on standard models (13 inches). All calipers are covered in a lick of red paint, free of charge, of course, to add some contrast.

Porsche reworked the stability management program on the Macan to work in conjunction with the optional sport Chrono package for more responsiveness and better handling through twisty corners.

Crossover’s are becoming extremely popular as of recent times, with all big auto manufactuers dipping their toes in the water. Let’s see how the Porsche stacks up against rivals in the field.

Navigation is optional as is Apple CarPlay, however Bluetooth pairing and USB inputs come as standard when it comes to the entertainment side of things. A seven-inch touchscreen display is mounted in the centre console and is hooked up to an eight-speaker sound system. As for optional extras, an LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is on the menu.

Porsche-Macan-GTS-1An optional interior trim package is available packed with a red tachometer dial, matching stitching and seatbelts and GTS logo’s embossed into the headrests. As for exterior options, black nameplates can be swapped for glossy ones and LED headlamps can take over from Xenon ones.

What’s next for the Macan line-up? Possibly a Turbo S model to follow in the footsteps of other Porsches models?

No date has been set in stone for Porsche Macan GTS models, however, expect them to show up on dealership floors sometime early 2016, somewhere around March. If you can’t wait till then? Check out used Porsche Macan Turbo for sale in Dubai on dubicars.com.
