We’re certainly looking forward to the new Supra as much as the next guy. Small snippets of information have surfaced of the model including engines, headlights and gearboxes but many were left disheartened when a manual box was entirely omitted.
No need to feel sad anymore as a leak has sprung claiming a manual gearbox will be available for the new Supra instead of the “boring” automatic gearbox. Rejoice!
On top of the potential stick shift, a turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine was mentioned which will be built by both BMW and Toyota. Previously, an inline BMW six cylinder motor had been mentioned, although that engine will not be present in the new Supra.
With that in mind, it leaves us wondering how much horsepower the V6 will produce. Some sources are claiming more than 400 horses pump through its veins.
Oddly enough, there was no mention of the four pot motor or the hybrid drivetrain that is rumoured to join in on the fun at a later date.
When will we see the new Supra?
As you may know already, BMW and Toyota are working hand in hand to create the new Supra and Z4. While we have already seen what the latter will look like, we’re still anxiously waiting for Toyota to strip the camo from the Supra.
There is a possibility we’ll catch a glimpse of the new Supra at this years Tokyo Motor Show.
Dubicars.com has new Toyota and used Toyota for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Ajman.
