Porsche are all set up for the Detroit Motor Show in 2016, however before they show up with the new Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S models in person, they have kindly given us details about what’s to come next year. With a few touch ups here and there it’s guaranteed to continue turning heads.
Both models receive a healthy boost of 20 horsepower each. Turbo models increase is due to clever adjustments to inlets on cylinder heads, higher fuel pressure and better injection nozzles whereas Turbo S models benefit from all new turbochargers with more efficient compressors. This bump in horsepower gives the new Porsche models a boost in top speed, 330 km/h in Turbo S version’s which is 12 km/h faster than before and 320 km/h in Turbo trim, a boost of 5 km/h.
A new Sport GT steering wheel is fitted, similar to ones found in the ever so spectacular Porsche 918 Spyder it comes standard with a mode selector switch for drivers to unleash its full potential or to keep the beast tame, whatever tickles your fancy. Modes selectable are Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. Individual is aimed directly to those who want raw excitement allowing drivers to adjust every aspect of the vehicle.
Porsche Suspension management or PSM for short has been tinkered with, Sport Mode has been added to the database. Both models benefit from a lift system, which allows and extra 40mm ground clearance at low speed and radar-assisted lane assist.
Besides all this, there are some minor adjustments to the vehicles exterior. New front end with slimmer LED lights, adjusted air-vents and side air-blades give it a wider stance. At the rear, there are a few more changes, altered rear lights, rear bumper with revised exhaust pipes and engine covering. Looking at either side, Porsche has added different door handles compared to previous models and 20-inch seven-spoked rims instead of 10-spokes.
Inside, it’s pretty much the same with an updated Porsche Communication Management system or PCM with online navigation for pinpoint accuracy. Bose sound system comes stock, however for music lovers an optional premium Burmester sound system is available. Plus lots of other optional features are on the menu such as cooled seats, media inputs and more.

All these adjustments to horsepower and top speed must mean it’s less fuel-efficient than before? Nope, even though it’s quicker, Porsche have managed to increase efficiency by 0.6 litres per 100 km. Achieved from reworked engine and transmission electronics and re-mapped gearshifts.
