After yesterday’s surprise leak of the new Lexus ES, the Japanese manufacturer has stepped forward and provided an official teaser image of their own.
Today’s picture shows off a close up of the newly enlarged front grille. Along with the image, Lexus has issued a warning stating “expect the unexpected”. We’re not sure what to think of that, we’d like to say the ES could lose two of its doors, sit closer to the ground, lose all of the creature comfort features and what not but that’s just a pipedream as we know what’s in store.
Yesterday’s new Lexus ES tease
As we mentioned, a leaked image of the New ES has already found its way online before Lexus had the chance to do it themselves. Albeit the picture is grainy and slightly distorted, what’s new is visible. Borrowing select styling cues from the larger LS lineup or to put it more specifically, the front grille and headlights.
While the spindle grille does look identical, the upper corners are in fact slightly different. As for the headlights, the LED Daytime Running Light signature is more reserved compared to the range-topping saloon.
Lexus will unveil the new Lexus ES saloon at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show later this month on the 25th of April.
A little bit of Lexus history
Did you know the Lexus ES was one of the first models from the Japanese luxury car brand? Debuting in 1989 and now in its sixth generation, the GS followed shortly in 1991and is in its fourth generation, and in 1998, the first IS series arrived and is currently in its third generation.
