Over the past few weeks, teasers and detail leaks have flooded the internet about the next generation Audi A8 flagship sedan. We’ve got all the information you need in one convenient location.
The exterior draws inspiration from the Prologue Concept which debuted back in 2014. By incorporating an enlarged chrome grille, thin set of horizontal headlamps with LED daytime running lights, flowing roof line and rear light bar, all of this give the new Audi A8 a sleek exterior similar to that of a coupe.
As you may or may not have heard over the past few months, Audi is working diligently to unite autonomous options with their flagship sedan. Starting with the new Audi A8, drivers can to take their hands off the wheel at speeds of up to 60 km/h to allow the vehicle to drive without human interference. Similar to that of rivals, Audi’s executive sedan will feature remote parking even without anyone being present inside.
Audi is offering five engines to power the Audi A8 starting off with two V6 turbocharged motors. Both have 3-litre displacements, one is petrol, and the other is diesel rated at 340 horsepower and 286 hp respectively. Next up is a selection of petrol and diesel V8’s with 4-litre displacement rated at 460 hp and 435 hp each. Topping the entire range is their token 6-litre W12 which they conveniently have omitted the power output.
Shortly after these five engines, a sixth powertrain will join the ranks. Exclusively for the Audi A8 L e-tron Quattro. Boasting a 3-litre V6 TFSI engine, an electric motor will be thrown into the mix to generate a combined 449 horsepower. As we’ve seen with select hybrids in the market, the e-tron Quattro can travel 50 km without the use of burning fossil fuels.
In Germany, Audi A8 prices start at 90,600 Euros or AED 378,850 and 94,100 Euros or AED 393,585.
