Mitsubishi have stayed relatively quiet in recent months when it comes to new models, and that’s all about to change come Geneva in March as the Japanese brand has a mysterious five-door SUV heading for Europe.
Not much is known of the model although there are rumours that the vehicle will reuse an existing Mitsubishi name: Eclipse, even though the vehicle doesn’t resemble a sporty coupe.
Power is said to come from a four-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol motor with an added turbocharger to boot while powering all four wheels through the brands S-AWC system along with a multi-link rear axle. CVT transmissions are also rumoured to be stock with the option of others joining the lineup later down the road.
Seeing as hybrid drivetrains are all the rave nowadays, that system is also being considered.
As for the teaser image, we can see the vehicle draws subtle hints from cars within Mitsubishi’s lineup with the Outlander and Pajero Sport springing to mind. Whereas the rear lights are borrowed from the XR-PHEV II concept from two years ago.
Aside from that, the four-wheeler looks the part in a densely populated segment and looks to bring something new to the minds of potential buyers.
Mitsubishi has their eyes set on the Nissan Qashqai amongst other compact SUV’s with this new model.
We’ll now more in a few weeks time when the Geneva Motor show kicks off, but for now, we’ve got plenty of new Mitsubishi and used Mitsubishi for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Ajman.
