MG has floated around the Dubai car market for some time now with various sedans readily available for purchase, but the real market is with crossover’s which are fun, lightweight, cost effective and not to mention stylish. And what better way for MG to propel themselves into the thoughts of potential buyers by bringing their take on crossovers to the UAE market.
Badged as the MG GS, its local debut took place, at last month’s Dubai International Motor Show for future customers to catch a glimpse. Before that, it made its grand debut in Shanghai earlier this year with an expected release date later in the year for China and early 2016 for Great Britain.
It’s got quite a bit of character too, keeping in line with modern styling with its “diamond-cut Flow’ giving quite a cheeky grin up front. Riding on 18-inch alloys adds to its presence along with a multitude of unique eye-catching colors and two-tone paint scheme as seen in the pictures.
Powering this affordable crossover is an inline four cylinder 2.0-litre direct injection turbocharged petrol engine that pumps out a respectable 220 horsepower, 0-100 km/h time of fewer than 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 208 km/h. Making this one little nippy crossover and quite the competitor against the likes of Nissan’s Juke, Ford’s Escape not to mention the Renault Captur and Volkswagen Tiguan amongst many others in the ever expanding market of crossovers

Power is sent to the front wheels in basic models with the option to upgrade in high trim levels to an intelligent all-wheel drivetrain. On all models power is sent via a six-speed wet dual clutch automatic transmission.
It’s not just the engine that makes the MG GS stand out, it’s packed with fantastic features such as media inputs, Bluetooth, 8.1-inch touchscreen, 6-way speaker setup, cruise control, remote boot opening, LED lights and fog lamps. These may not all be standard features however, there are a lot to choose from for such a compact car.
Then there are the safety features, smaller lesser known brands tend to get pushed aside but not MG. With a body made of lightweight material with high-tensile steel to keep all inside safe. Six airbags inside, rear parking sensors and camera, ABS, anti-roll program and the list goes on, certainly a brand to remember when purchasing a new car.
With many awards already won across their lineup that consists of the MG3, MG350, MG5 and MG6, the British Brand have even won the British Touring Car Championship with their MG6 sedan in 2014. This new crossover aims to continue the “winning” trend.
