Is Mercedes working on an AMG GT R Black Series?

As it appears, Mercedes are working on a hotter version of the AMG GT R (as if it wasn’t hot enough as it is). While Mercedes is keeping a tight lip on whether or not this is indeed an AMG GT R Black Series, we can’t help but notice the camo covering the rear deck.

This leads us to believe the heavy rear glass rear window will be replaced by a lighter plastic one. You can also expect lighter materials elsewhere and a fair few “bulky” options to be removed from the cabin.

The model pictured also features two large tailpipes nestled into the rear diffuser instead of the traditional centre exhaust.

Besides the cosmetic changes, expect Mercedes to add an additional kick to the BiTurbo 4-litre V8’s 577 horsepower of the standard AMG GT R. 600+ hp would do nicely.

An increase of power would be aided by various new aero tweaks to the exterior and a slight weight reduction.

Not the first AMG GT R Black Series sighting

Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time an AMG GT R Black Series has been spotted in the wild. Back in June, a heavily cloaked version was caught testing itself on the Nordschleife.

As previously mentioned, Mercedes has yet to confirm the model. However; with the Frankfurt Motor Show just around the corner, this would certainly be a pleasant surprise as a last minute announcement.

Dubicars.com has new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT and used Mercedes-Benz AMG GT for sale in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
