Mercedes Project One: This is it!

After numerous teases over the past few months, the Mercedes Project One has finally been revealed, and it’s everything and more than we expected.

As we’ve heard in the past, Mercedes will, in fact, fit a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol motor with at least four electric motors inside the vehicle to generate a mega 1,000 horsepower.

Capable of revving up to 50,000 RPM, two of these electric motors are mounted up front, one is carefully integrated into the turbocharger, and the final unit is fastened to the engine itself.

Front units and engine mounted one produce 160 hp a piece whereas the single motor mounted to the engine generates 120 hp.

Power is channelled to the rear wheels via an all-new automated eight-speed manual transmission which is specifically made for the model.

As it does boast four electric motors, Mercedes Project one can run on solely electric power.

Mercedes Project One hypercars are limited to just 275 units world wide and are all sold already. All will be left-hand drive and sold for a whopping $2.7 million or AED 9.9 million.

Mercedes Project One: A site to see

While the engine may be the main focal point, how could one not be taken back by the radical yet subtle styling.

Inside, the ludicrous machine benefits from not one but two 10-inch HD displays, drive mode selector, LED shift display and an airbag.

Additional features include power windows, air-conditioning and a rear view camera. The latter will prove useful seeing as there is no rear window.

Don’t expect any of these to pop up outside Dubai Mall anytime soon as there is still at least 18-months of development before the first model rolls out.

Dubicars.com has new Mercedes-Benz and used Mercedes-Benz for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Ajman.
