The new year is finally upon us and with it brings us dozens upon dozens of new models, updates and manufacturers to move us from A to B or to lower or jaws a few inches. Detroit is just around the corner and Mercedes has their GT C Edition 50 and another little surprise for us to fantasise about.
AMG GT C Edition 50 models not only benefit from an exclusive badge to celebrate 50 years of automotive excellence, but they also include a bump in power from the 4-litre turbocharged V8. Instead of 503 horsepower, a respectable 550 horses are thrown out of the rear end along with 680 NM of torque.
With these new outputs, we expect the vehicle to sprint to 100 km/h a fraction of a second quicker with a similar top speed.
We also expect a set of exclusive paint jobs for the GTC Edition 50’s exterior to stand out from the rest along with unique trim pieces inside and out.
As for the AMG GT and S models updates, not much is known as the German brand is keeping it locked down till later in the week. What we do know is that both models are to receive a facelift and minor upgrades to the engine and a new grille 300 SL Panamerica drawing inspiration from the extreme R version.
