Revealed last night in Sweden, this is the world’s first glimpse of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup truck without the eye straining camo. For some, it may look similar as it is based on the Nissan Navara but that doesn’t mean isn’t luxurious.
Technically this is not the final design as the German brand unveiled a concept of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class. Two version’s of the vehicle were shown off, one prepared for standard heavy hauling around town and the other is aimed straight towards the offroad crowd with off-road rubber, a winch mounted on each end and black colour contrasting wheel arches.
Inside, it’s typical Mercedes. Their patented COMAND system finds a home in the centre console and is used to control a centrally mounted display as well as circular air con vents plus a few more similar pieces. The climate control instruments and 4WD drives assist appear to be lifted straight from Nissan.
Powering either unit is unknown, some sources are stating diesel whereas others are claiming a choice between diesel or petrol. All-wheel drive has been confirmed and it’s expected that a 2WD model will be made available
It’s known that the Mercedes-Benz X-Class is destined from select parts of Europe, South America and other parts of the world. America is on the rocks and places such as the UAE are not on the list even though it would sell rapidly. If it doesn’t get a GCC version, they’ll definitely be imported in mass proportions.
