AMG are celebrating 50 years of motoring brilliance this year. We’ve seen them ramp up their catalogue with various projects, but none come close to the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 50.
Based off the potent AMG GT3 race car, Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 50 models are decked out in grey paint with black stripes and “50 Years AMG” plastered to each side.
As you can tell from the pictures, this is as close as you’ll get to a street-legal GT3 car.
Plenty of carbon fibre can be found all around the aggressive styling cues including the front bumper, side skirts, fenders. There’s also that massive rear wing that pokes your eye out even if you zoom in, enlarged rear diffuser and more carbon fibre inserts.
Modifications carry on inside. Gone are the standard seats and in their place are two carbon fibre bucket seats with racing harnesses, roll cage and smaller than usual steering wheel. To top it off, there’s a digital dashboard instrument panel, and race inspired switch gear.
Instead of the 4-litre BiTurbo V8, Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 50 models are equipped with an AMG-tuned V8 6.3-litre petrol unit powering the rear wheels. Although they haven’t announced its power output, we do know it’s mated to a six-speed sequential racing transmission.
Limited to just five street legal units, seeing a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 50 will be quite the treasured moment anywhere in the world.
