What’s this, What’s this? It’s a tease from our favourite British sports car manufacturer of course, and although it’s not much at least, it gives us our first glimpse if the McLaren Super Series which has been circulating the rumour mills for some time.
Destined to be the successor of the mouthwatering 650S, McLaren has kindly dropped a single image of what appears to be the rear spoiler (airbrake) raised up, rear LED light stripe and heaps of lightweight carbon fibre to keep the models weight on the down low.
While a lot of information about the upcoming sports car still remains a mystery, we do know that the rear airbrake is to offer double the aerodynamic benefits that the 650S provides and that the vehicle will have increased downforce enhancers to keep the sports car planted to the ground at high speeds and increased cooling.
The first model of the McLaren Super Series will pack a revamped version of the brand’s potent twin-turbo V8 powering the rear wheels with a mega 710 horsepower on tap. It’s worth noting that the displacement has increased by 0.2-litres and is now a rounded 4-litre motor. Also rumoured is the use of a hybrid system similar to the one found in the P1 hypercar.
The first of the McLaren Super Series is said to debut in Geneva at the beginning of March with the 720S badge. No price or official price tag has been attached to the model as of yet.
