Out of the blue, Maserati has revealed minor changes to the Maserati Ghibli. Updates include a new front bumper, refreshed front grille and some new chrome accents.
Not only has a refreshed redesign been revealed, the Maserati Ghibli receives a new nameplate which can be found on the front quarter panels just behind the tyres. This nameplate spells out GranLusso.
Around the back, updated Ghibli models benefit from a new bumper and a body-colour rear extractor which gives the model a ‘new’ look.
Changes may be small, however, they do improve the aerodynamics of the vehicle, Maserati has also jumped on the opportunity to add a new set of adaptive LED headlights with matrix high beams. The Italian brand promises these new lights provide increased illumination.
The interior remains identical, but the Ghibli does benefit from a wide range of driver assistance features. While Maserati hasn’t confirmed exactly which ones, they have said it will allow them to enter the realms of autonomous driving in the near future.
New Maserati Ghibli power?
Engines are expected to remain identical. This includes the two twin-turbo V6 3-litre petrol engine rated at 345 and 404 horsepower respectively. A diesel variant is also available in select regions with 271 hp.
Refreshed Maserati Ghibli Granlusso models will make their live debut at the Chengdu Motor Show later this month.
While we welcome the refresh with open arms, we are completely baffled why they’ve added the GranLusso nameplate.
