Details of the upcoming Lamborghini Urus have been scarce, to say the least. We heard the Italian manufacturer is considering a hybrid model, but they didn’t give those import numbers we all crave for. They have now!
With the powertrain confirmed, hiding underneath the bonnet will be a twin-turbo charged V8 petrol motor pumping out 650 horsepower in standard models. As previously mentioned, a hybrid version is said to join the lineup a year after the vehicle’s launch.
As for its underpinnings, the Urus will share what’s underneath with other top SUV’s from the Volkswagen stable including the next-generation Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7 and the mighty Bentley Bentayga.
With those in mind, they produce slightly less than the Urus with the Bentayga being its closest rival with 600 horses. That is of course if you discount the upcoming Cayenne E-Hybrid with 671 horsepower.
Those numbers are certainly a shoe-in for the most powerful “stock” SUV around, right? Not quite. Remember, Jeep have the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk on its way with 707 horsepower thanks to a 6.2-litre supercharged Hellcat V8.
Regarding luxury, that won’t come close to that of the Lamborghini Urus.
To begin with, Lamborghini will build 1,000 units of their upcoming SUV for 2018 and then ramp up production to around 3,500 examples starting from 2019.
The Lamborghini Urus is expected to go on sale just before Summer in 2018 for European customers and later in 2018 for other markets including the US and GCC.
We expect to see the Lamborghini Urus without any camouflage later this year.
Until then, we’ve got used Lamborghini for sale in Dubai.
