After the Kia Stinger finally hit the floor in production clothing, the South Korean has another new model up their sleeve that is said to utilise the Stonic nameplate.
Nissan’s Juke model is its prime target along with other quirky crossovers including the Renault Captur although, the brand’s Kicks model could also be a potential candidate.
Destined for showrooms later this year, Kia is expected to show off a full production model later in the year in Frankfurt. As of now, we and everyone else has no clue what this new model how this model will take shape.
The brand has indicated that the China exclusive Kia KX3 model would serve as a base and that’s all we know.
For the time being, Kia is fixated on spreading the word on the previously mentioned Stinger and both updated models of the Rio and Picanto.
Sources indicate that this model’s first port of call is Europe where the brand will test the waters. Due to the Juke’s popularity around the world, we should see the Stonic hit showrooms in other regions including the GCC.
No pricing bracket has been revealed nor has a build location. Seeing as the Chinese version is built in South Korea, Stonic’s could utilise the same plant or a seperate one located in either Slovakia or Mexico.
While the Stonic patent comes across as new news from the South Korean brand, they’ve actually had the idea of a smaller mid-sized SUV for some time.
