Across Europe, Kia offers customers a Pro_Cee’d GT. An upgraded version of the compact hatchback, customers have been gobbling them up as if they were going out of fashion. Kia has taken note and decided to slap the GT badge on a few other vehicles within its lineup.
The first car to bear the GT badge will be the Kia Optima GT. Packing a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder motor, around 242 horsepower is sent to the front wheels. Aside from the uprated engine, GT models will benefit from an improved chassis and unique exterior trims pieces
Once launched, Kia will roll out a GT version of the Rio to compete alongside the Ford Fiesta GT compact hatchback.
So far, those are the only two additional models to receive the enhancements aside from the one previously mentioned before that. Although the South Korean brand is tempted by a Sportage GT model in the near future.

If you were unaware, Kia and Hyundai are part of the same company leading to a lot of information being shared between the two. Seeing hints of the latter’s N-Division won’t come as a surprise. However, seeing as N vehicles are more track ready machines, GT models aim at those who just want an extra spring in their step when zipping through narrow and twisty roads.
No price tag has been attached to any model, and GT badged vehicles are expected to roll out later this year or early 2017.
