Infiniti dreaming up Q30 hot hatch

The Infiniti Q30 may have been in the public’s eye for little over a year, but that doesn’t stop the Japanese powerhouse from throwing around the idea for a hotter version of their latest hatchback.

Upon launch, the Q30 hot hatch will chase the tail end of the Audi RS3 that the Germans have coincidentally updated, Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, Ford Focus RS, Honda Civic Type R and Volkswagen Golf R.

Rumour has it; the Q30 hot hatch could opt for a finely tuned hybrid system unlike their competitors that currently use a turbocharged induction instead.

Infiniti is no stranger to hotter versions of the vehicles as in the past, they’ve pieced together an FX Sebastian Vettel Edition, the Q50 Eau Rouge concept and the recent Q60 Black Project S.

Although the Japanese brand has yet to dabble into the hot hatch segment, with Renault being an ally, they can learn and utilise what the French company use for their Sport division.

Infiniti hasn’t released any pictures of what guise the Q30 hot hatch will form. Seeing as it’s competitors all sport extra flair compared to base models, we can expect different rims, larger rear spoiler, side skirts, bumpers and badges.

We would also welcome with open arms exclusive colour palettes and an increase in power.

Late 2017 or early 2018 is most likely when we’ll see this model hit the market with a higher price tag compared to standard models.
