Incredible Nissan GT R50 celebrates not one but two important birthdays

This year, the iconic Nissan GT-R and Skyline moniker celebrate 50 years. Italdesign also commemorates 50 years too. So what does that mean? The two icons have joined forces to create a bespoke prototype dubbed the Nissan GT R50.

Why GT R50 you might ask, as both are celebrating half a century, the “50” in the name is a reference to the anniversary years of the two powerhouses.

Now back to the GT R50

Based on the 2018 GT R, the Nissan GT R50 sports an eye-catching exterior finish. Consisting of Gold and Grey, the bonnet has been sculpted and now flows towards the front grille with either side flanked by slim LED headlights.

Looking at the vehicles side profile, the roof now sits lower down (54mm lower), the wheel arches have been flared out, and the traditional GT-R “samurai blades” behind the front wheels are finished in gold.

The rear end keeps the traditional twin round taillights, but the designers have carved out a space to allow them to float with thin light rings and hollowed out centres.

Finally, each corner is fitted with custom 21-inch rims.

Beyond its striking looks, flashy finish and custom rims, under the bonnet is the standard 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine. Tuned to a mega 710 horsepower, NISMO jumped on the project to and replaced dozens of mechanical parts including the intercoolers, turbochargers, pistons, intake, exhaust system and more.

The six-speed dual-clutch transmission has also been adjusted to cope with the extra power. Additionally, the Nissan GT R50 is fitted with Brembo six-piston front and four-piston rear brakes, Bilstein DampTronic continuously adjustable damping system and slick Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres.

As of writing, this is purely a concept and if it will be an actual road car remains unknown.

Dubicars.com has new Nissan GT-R and used Nissan GT-R for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Ajman.
