GMC Middle East and Abu Dhabi Police set a new Guinness World Record as part of GCC Traffic Week

Last week (11th-15th of March) played host to the GCC Traffic Week. During said time frame, GMC Middle East and Abu Dhabi Police set a new Guinness World Record title with the largest parade of GMC cars in one location.

An astonishing 191 GMC models of all ages, sizes and colours took to the picturesque Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi (home of the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix) and lined up to form a long parade spanning over four kilometres in length. Representatives from the Gunniess World Record were present to officiate the record while the Abu Dhabi Police and the Abu Dhabi’s premier dealership for GMC vehicles were in attendance to support the record attempt.

Leading the field was the 2018 GMC Sierra Denali 6.0L V8 pulling a 30-metre flag graciously displaying a photo of the late Shaikh Zayed, commemorating the UAE’s year of Zayed.

Not only was the event a record-breaking one, but UAE Authorities also used the occasion to raise awareness of road safety, reduce road accidents and improve traffic.

The previous record, which was also set by GMC Middle East and the official dealer of the American manufacturer in Kuwait. In 2013, 181 GMC vehicles took to the 7th Ring Road in Kuwait to set the previous record.

What is GCC Traffic Week?

Taking place from the 11th to the 15th of March, GCC Traffic Week is a united campaign between GCC countries aimed towards improving road safety across the region.
