Four cylinder powertrain confirmed for 2018 F-Type

Since 2013, the Jaguar F-Type has shipped with either a V6 or a V8. A few months ago, we heard that the 2018 F-Type would be available with a 2.0-litre turbo four cylinder motor and it’s all true.

Four-cylinder 2018 F-Type models can be had with an exclusive eight-speed automatic gearbox powering the rear wheels. From standstill, the wildcat can launch to 100 in 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 250 horsepower thanks to its 296 horsepower 2-litre turbo motor.

For a small engine, those numbers are mighty impressive, and as expected the British sports car is light on fuel meaning you can enjoy your 2018 F-Type for longer without visiting the petrol station.

Overall, the 2018 F-Type Jag also weighs in lighter with most of the weight shredded from the front end. Not only does the weight reduction help with the scales, but it also increases agility through the corners giving drivers the drive they so crave for.

Overall, the ‘baby’ F-Type weighs in 54 kilos lighter than the V6 and substantially less than the powerful V8.

On top of the new engine, all 2018 F-Type models ship with redesigned front and rear bumpers. Four-cylinder motors sport 18-inch alloys adorning each corner, single tailpipe sticking out of the rear and is available as a coupe or convertible.

Pricing in the UK starts at £49,000 or AED 224,900 and will be available later this year. Left-hand markets have yet to be confirmed; we’re sure they’ll make it around the world.
