As of this week, the Dubai-Al Ain (E66) road is no more as it has been given a new name. Serving as one of the busiest routes connecting Dubai and Al Ain, the long stretch of tarmac is will now be named after Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in the Al Ain Region.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces issued the order to rename the road which has been changed from Dubai-Al Ain road to Tahnoun Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan Road.
In 2010, the road was revised in two separate phases. The first of the two connected the Al Towayya area to Al Masaken and covered 23 km in length and consists of three lanes either side.
The second expansion saw the extension from Al Masaken to Al Faqa’a adding a further 42 km stretch of road to the route with four lanes running in each direction.
The long stretch of road can accommodate up to 7,000 motor vehicles per hour travelling in each direction and is built to the highest international standards.
