BMW Roadster teased, but what it is it?

BMW has confirmed a new BMW Roadster will make its grand debut in just over two weeks time. What they haven’t revealed is what badge this drop top will bear.

Sources speculate this fresh rendering is either the long anticipated i8 Roadster or a convertible version of the equally anticipated Z4 successor. Amidst the rumours, some assume this could also be a cabriolet version of the 8-series.

The latter seems rather odd as the German manufacturer has already confirmed the 8-series will make its North American debut before its launch in 2018.

Additionally, the Bavarian brand won’t confirm this BMW Roadster is part of the Z4 successor lineup.

In case you’re unaware, Toyota and BMW are working in collaboration to build the next Supra and “Z5”, with a variety of motors including a 2-litre four cylinder mated to either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic gearbox. There are also talks of a straight-six engine pumping out 450 horses!

A full reveal of this mysterious BMW Roadster along with an 8-series concept is expected for Thursday, August 17th at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

BMW has a rich history of revealing “show” cars at the event. Last year, they rolled out a fully restored 1957 507 roadster which was once by Elvis Presley. Previous events have also had the pleasure of hosting the 2002 Hommage and 3.0 CSL Hommage vehicles.

That leaves us with 17 days to speculate where this model fits into the BMW lineup.

Dubicars.com has new BMW and used BMW for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Ajman.
