Audi working on BMW i8 rival

By 2020, Audi wants to launch at least three all-electric vehicles. One of those three is said to be a BMW i8 rival with the other two potentially stacking up against Tesla’s lineup.

We’ve heard about an Audi A7 hybrid model, we’ve even got spy shots of the vehicle being put through it’s paced with no visible exhaust outputs. This could be one of the other three.

As for the third model the German brand plan on launching, we’ve yet to catch a glimpse of the vehicle.

Although, at the past Geneva Motor Show earlier this month, Rupert Stadler, Cheif Executive of Audi said the electric sports car to serve as an i8 rival is scheduled to launch after Audi launches an all-electric SUV along with a compact electric car.

This would equate to not just three models but four. That is if Audi goes ahead with the previously mentioned hybrid Audi A7.

This isn’t a new realm for Audi as in the past, the brand attempted to capitalise on electric sports car craze before it even began. The Audi R8 e-tron made its debut back in 2009 as a show car and went into production shortly afterwards.

As of last year, that program screeched to a halt and the German manufacturer doesn’t want to quit that easily, hence the upcoming i8 rival.
