As Audi is preparing the global premiere of the Audi E-Tron crossover, the German brand has released a handful of images plus details of the upcoming model.
Unveiled this week at the Royal Danish Playhouse in Copenhagen, as impressive as the exterior is, the interior is incredibly futuristic and gives us a glimpse of what to expect from future Audi cabins.
Upon first glance, the angular dashboard catches the eye with dark trimming, accent lighting and slim air vents.
But the real treat here are the screens located on either door panel. These screens won’t be used to display an sort of media or dashboard instruments instead; they project what the two side mounted rear-facing cameras are seeing as the tradition wing-mirrors are gone.
Now we know what you’re thinking, “are these screens and cameras really going to be available with the production-based Audi E-Tron.” Yes, yes they will be available as an optional extra.
The Audi E-Tron features Audi’s signature virtual cockpit instead of the traditional gauges, two large screens mounted in the centre console and a restyled gear lever which appears to “float.”
Upon release, customers can choose a variety of interior options depending on what equipment line they choose. All trim levels feature stitching on the seats that mimic electric circuit boards.
Additionally, orange contrast stitching and piping, an ambient lighting package and a vast selection of interior materials, colours and inlays will be available as will a premium Bang & Olufsen premium sound system with a 705-watt amplifier and 16 speakers.
Although the vehicle may appear small, Audi claims the Audi E-Tron offers ample knee room and headroom which is “top-class” for the full-size SUV market.
