That’s right, after years of the same old Micra shape, the Japanese manufacturer has taken it in their stride to update finally the micro hatchback giving it a sportier look which is required in this generation or else all of its rivals will outpace them.
Spotted navigating its way through Southern Europe, straight away a sportier body is noticeable compared to outgoing rounded shape current models have. Upcoming models seem to have drawn inspiration from the new Tiida or Pulsar model depending on where you live.
Around the back, a new protruding rear spoiler is evident along with a steeper rear window and horizontal taillights. On either side, the vehicle appears upgraded with sharpened side windows. Rear door handles move up to the sides and match the C-pillar to appear hidden.
Upcoming Micra’s will utilise the same underpinnings as the upcoming Juke, which is due out later this year or early next year with an unannounced price. Expect the 2017 Nissan Micra to be unveiled in Paris in October.
Nissan hasn’t mentioned what will power the front wheels, as it shares the same chassis as the Juke it’s plausible that similar power units such as the 1.5-litre turbo could find another home in the Micra. Interior options are unknown, however, seeing as the exterior is to receive a massive overhaul you can expect the interior to be drastically enhanced too.
