Limited 2016 BMW M5 to close out the generation

To wrap up final production of the current generation BMW M5 models, the German manufacturer is rolling out a Limited Edition variant of the potent sedan with more than just a lick of paint.

Coated in Pure Metal Silver, which is usually an additional $10,000 on top of the base model. Completing the look or 20-inch M-alloy rims, sports exhaust system with carbon fibre tips and a blacked-out double kidney grille.

Inside, these models have their five seats covered in Merino Grey leather with complementing coloured stitching and aluminium trim lines the dashboard. On top of the unique leather trim, each model will carry an individually numbered plaque. Standard features include memory seats, reverse camera, sunroof, cruise control and media inputs plus all optional features from the M Package are available at no extra cost.

Powering the rear wheels is a 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine now pumping out 600 horsepower, 15 more than standard M5 models. With the additional hp, 0-100 km/h is achieved in 3.9 seconds and its top speed is capped 305 km/h.

Now for the bad news, this limited run of vehicles will only be available in the United States. Importing one is an option when they launch with pre-order books opening next month. Last year a similar limited edition launched in South Africa and was limited to just 20 units. This reincarnation will be built to 50 units. Each model holds a price tag of $130,900 approx; AED 480,800.

  1. One thing that the majority of people do not think about is that turbos are widely used in a wide variety of situations beyond just cars. From semi-trucks to tractors, to a myriad of industrial uses, combining a turbocharger with an engine is typically an efficient tactic to raise output without resortin to more difficult, and often more costly, options.
