Lotus has revealed its most-anticipated electric GT car, the Emeya. With 905hp on tap and four doors, the brand calls the Emeya, a Hyper Grand Tourer. The new electric sedan will rival the likes of the Tesla Model S and the Porsche Taycan. Lotus says, the introduction of Emeya also marks the brand’s 75th year anniversary celebration bringing forth the best of the electric car world.
Lotus Emeya Electric Powertrain
Emeya’s electric powertrain uses two motors paired with a two-speed gearbox and a 102kW battery pack. The powertrain produces 905hp and 985Nm which allows the Emeya to sprint from 0-100km/h in under 2.8 seconds and continue to hit a top speed of 256km/h. The Emeya also features rapid charging capabilities. Using a 350kW DC charger, a five-minute charge can extend the range by 150 km, while an 18-minute charge boosts it from 10% to 80%.
The Emeya introduces a range of active aerodynamic features that pay homage to Lotus’ successful racing heritage. At the front, the active front grille and air dam enhance efficiency and cooling. Meanwhile, at the rear, the active diffuser and wide dual-layer spoiler offer stability and handling.
An electronically controlled air suspension system in Emeya has the remarkable ability to sense the road a thousand times per second. Emeya’s race-grade braking system will feature Lotus’s callipers and carbon ceramic brakes. As an electric car, it is also expected to include multiple-level regenerative braking.
Lotus Emeya Design
Lotus’ cars are known for their compact, two-door coupe/roadster design. The Emeya although a large car, still carries the design inspiration from older Lotus cars. The design and features include:
- Twin LED DRLs
- Large Alloy Wheels
- Aerodynamically Sculpted Body.
- Rear LED Lightbar
- Rear Spoiler
Lotus Emeya Interiors & Safety
Lotus leads in sustainable luxury, using a new thread that repurposes cotton scraps from the fashion industry for interior upholstery. This reduces the carbon footprint and offers weight-saving advantages. Emeya’s interiors also feature PVD Aluminium, Alcantara, Ultrafabrics PU, and Nappa Leather.
Inside the Emeya, you’ll find an intelligent driver cockpit and an intuitive infotainment system. It features Lotus partner KEF’s award-winning Uni-Q speaker design and a Dolby Atmos-enabled 3D surround sound system. Integrated road noise cancellation (RNC) ensures clear audio.
The Emeya includes safety features like a 55-inch augmented reality (AR) head-up display (HUD) for real-time road information, navigation, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) data, including turn signals, obstacle warnings, lane departure alerts, forward collision warnings, and blind-spot monitoring.
Lotus plans to reveal more details in Q4 2023, with production starting in 2024 at their Wuhan, China plant, where the Eletre is already made. Looking to buy a Lotus? Here is a list of used Lotus cars for sale in the UAE and new Lotus cars for sale in the UAE.
