The Hyundai Sonata facelift has been revealed as a mid-life refresh for the eighth-generation sedan. This, however, is a major facelift and Hyundai has implemented significant design changes on the new Sonata.
Hyundai is one of the biggest car manufacturers in the world. The South-Korean car manufacturer boasts of an impressive global presence and has so far been extremely successful in every single market it has ventured into. The Hyundai Sonata is quite obviously one of the most important products for the brand.
The Hyundai Sonata was first launched way back in 1985. In almost four decades, Hyundai has constantly updated the sedan with new generations and facelifts. Currently in its eighth generation which was launched in 2019, the Sonata is a stunning little sedan and isn’t due for another generational update until 2025.
However, Hyundai seems to be in a bit of a hurry to turn all its cars into look-alikes with a common front and rear theme. The signature Hyundai LED bar that was until now found on the Kona Crossover, Staria Minivan, Verna, and Grandeur sedans in some markets has now made its way to the facelifted Sonata too.
In the UAE, only the Hyundai Staria minivan currently boasts the signature LED strip that runs from one side of the vehicle to another. The Sonata facelift might just be the second model from Hyundai UAE to get this feature.
Images revealed by Hyundai show the standard version as well as the N-Line variant of the sedan. Quite obviously, the more performance-derived N-Line variant looks sportier. It even comes with uniquely-designed quad exhaust outlets at the rear. The front and rear bumpers too have been redesigned to make the stately sedan look more aggressive.
The design changes are not limited only to the outside. There are significant additions inside the cabin as well. The 2024 Hyundai Sonata will come with a curved display. Now, this is a rather fancy display that was until now only found in some BMW models.
It gets a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and both screens are held together by a single glass pane, making it look and feel rather fancy. The futuristic-looking centre console and the ambient lighting come together to make it feel plush.
The new Hyundai Sonata will be displayed at the Seoul Mobility Show which is set to take place between 30 March and 09 April 2023. More details are expected to be released then. At the moment, the sedan’s UAE launch date is unknown. However, given the importance of the UAE market, we expect the UAE to be among the first to receive the new Hyundai Sonata.
If you were considering the purchase of the current Hyundai Sonata and like the design of the new Hyundai Sonata, it might be wise to push the purchase decision forward. However, if you like the current design more, there are over a hundred used Hyundai Sonata cars for sale in the UAE and many new Hyundai Sonata cars for sale in the UAE.
