New Lamborghini Huracan? Yes please

Lamborghini Huracan’s are absolutely incredible sport cars with a feisty 10 cylinder engine packing 610 horsepower and sending all that power to all four wheels, they look pretty good too and make a ton of noise. Huracan’s are equipped with All-wheel drive (AWD) which is the option of much powerful machines at the moment as its “easier and safer” to drive and in turn reduces oversteer. Don’t like the sound of that? Have you expressed your feeling to the raging bull? It looks like Lamborghini have listened with their recent unveiling.

In LA, Lamborghini officially took the wraps of the Lamborghini Huracan LP-580 2 for car fanatics to drool over around the world. But it looks the same? To the average person yes it does, however those with a keen eye will notice there are subtle differences. For example, the front and rear have had new bumpers attached plus new rims have been bolted on each of the four corners. These 19-inch Kari rims are to be covered in Pirelli PZero tires. Steel brakes with aluminium discs are to bring this vehicle to a stop.

There is also a difference clue in the name, 2. Instead of having an AWD drivetrain found in standard models, it’s been replaced with two wheel drive instead, rear wheel drive that is. With it comes a 33 kg weight reduction. Modifications to the suspension have been made to accommodate the change, steering, traction and stability control systems have been recalibrated.

Another tweak is hinted in the name, 580. That symbolises how much horsepower is created by the 5.2 litre 10 cylinder mid-mounted engine. Performance wise, it retains a ridiculously quick top speed of 320 km/h just 5 km/h slower than AWD models, and 0-100 km/h time of just 3.4 seconds, which is fractionally slower. Manual fanatics don’t get too excited as power is still sent via a seven-speed e-gear dual-clutch transmission.

Cylinder deactivation technology has been retained, cutting power to five of the 10 cylinders when not needed at cruising speeds or slow moving traffic to cut down on fuel consumption.  Lamborghini Piattforma Inerziale (LPI) a system that uses a sensor carefully placed in the vehicles centre of gravity, it relays information in real-time in a three-dimensional space. It then sends this information to the Magneto Rheological Suspension (MRS) and other control systems to keep them up-to-date. It’s unconfirmed if these systems are standard or optional in the Lamborghini Huracan LP 580 2.

Inside, it’s the same two-seater setup packed with the newest Lamborghini infotainment system II, entertainment options, 12.3-inch high-red TFT digital dashboard, powered seats, media inputs and keyless go. Included is a drive option selector with STRADA for regular driving, CORSA for full on intense performance perfect for track days and SPORT which is stuck somewhere between the two

Pricing has yet to be revealed, however it will be cheaper than all-wheel drive versions and there is no mention of production numbers, expect a convertible version alongside coupe style, much like standard Huracan’s.
