Summer has officially arrived in the UAE, which means thermometers around the country are all show 40+ degree Celsius no matter where you are. That number goes even higher (80+ degree Celsius) inside the cabin of any car in the UAE which can lead to intense heat when you get in your car. That’s why we’re here to help cope with your car in the summer heat in UAE.
First an foremost, get your a/c checked. Make sure it works properly and actually cools the car. If it’s not blowing cold, take it to a mechanic, service centre and have the gas and compressor checked.
Here’s a few helpful tips;
Parking is key – Shaded parking is the ideal place to park but may not be freely available or even non-existent. But if you can find some, fantastic! This will keep your car a lot cooler during the summer months.
Crack open a window – For obvious reasons, don’t leave your window all the way down, slightly roll down your window to let some air in on both sides. You’d be surprised how much of a difference it makes, just check the forecast before you get out of the car, you don’t want open windows while a shamal is blowing through the city.
Leave the door open – Obviously, don’t leave the door open while your car is parked as you might have some unwanted guests inside when you come back. Before you step into your car, leave the door open for 15 to 20 seconds to let out that hot air.
Wind the window all the way down – When you’re finally in the car, wind the window all the way down and turn on the a/c and put it in recirculation mode. This will save the a/c from working overtime while trying to cool the car.
Give your car some shades – Not sunglasses, but sunshades. There are two types available; the standard ones that you usually get for free or specialists ones that have UV protection and cost a bit more. We recommend the second option as there is a noticeable difference.
Tint my ride – In the UAE, you can legally tint your windows to a maximum of 50% and you’ll be amazed at how much cooler your car is when parked in the heat.
Cover that leather – Leather seats and leather wraps are very popular in the UAE and as easy they are to clean, they absorb heat like mad. Across the UAE, you can find covers to put over the seats and steering wheel made from fabric that will keep those leather surfaces cooler during the summer heat in UAE.
