Earlier this week, the Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) revealed an updated version of the Dubai Drive mobile app that now allows users to open a Salik account via their phone and many more useful features.
As part of the RTA’s continuous digital migration, the upgrade applied to the app also aims to support the Dubai Government’s paperless strategy.
As per the RTA, five new Salik-related services are now available via the app;
- Opening a personal account
- Adding or updating a number to a Salik account
- Linking a Salik account with an RTA account
- Checking and paying fines
- Registering customer objections to offences reported
The latest update makes it more convenient for motorists in the Emirate as the previous versions of the application restricted users to topping up their Salik account and showing where Salik gates were located across the city.
“Dubai Drive app had been designed to reflect ideas and suggestions of the public as we are keen to ensure that our services measure up to customer needs and expectations. Launching more smart services will boost Dubai Government Paperless Strategy 2021,” explained Maher Shirah, Director of Smart Services, at RTA’s Corporate Technology Support Services Sector.
The Dubai Drive app offers users a wide range of features on top of the Sailk related ones including;
- Payment of traffic fines
- Smart parking (revealing vacant parking spaces)
- Obtaining approval from RTA for certain transactions
- Vehicle licensing
- Drivers licensing
