Unveiled last week at the North American International Auto Show, the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is the fastest and most powerful stock Mustang straight from the factory, no mods required.
Pushing the boundaries further compared to the GT350 and GT350R, Ford hasn’t exactly detailed how much horsepower the GT500 produces from its 5.2-litre supercharged V8 although it’s said to produce an eye-watering 700 hp!
That should be more than enough for a 0-100 km/h time of 4 seconds. A 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox is standard and there is no manual option available.
But there’s more to the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby beside the engine right?
Flanking each corner are alluring 20-inch alloys wrapped in sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres as standard. Magnetic dampers are standard too.
To further enhance ones 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 experience, two distinct packages are available. The “Handling Package” adds adjustable strut tower mounts and a gurney flap on the enlarged rear spoiler.
The second package or “Carbon-Fibre Handling Package” comes with lightweight carbon-fibre rims instead of alloys and wider rear tyres. The rear seats are no longer present as they weigh too much and the rear-wing is made from carbon-fibre.
Aside from the two packages, the cabin gets its own unique touches, including nex door panel inserts in dark suede with accent stitching and exposed carbon fibre accents. Recaro racing seats are optional instead of the more comfortable set of power-adjustable seats with suede insert.
The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 should arrive in the GCC sometime next year with pricing announced closer to the date.
