After successfully launching the latest generation of Camry’s to the UAE, yet another variant is now available in the UAE and is here to help you save on fuel costs. As part of Toyota UAE’s ever-expanding lineup of environmentally-friendly vehicles, the 2018 Camry hybrid is now available for companies and individuals.
Based on Toyota’s New Global Architecture platform (TNGA), the 2018 Camry Hybrid can be driven on both the petrol engine and electric motors or electrical power alone producing no carbon emission and consuming zero petrol.
There’s no power cord or even a place to plug said power cord into the vehicle; instead, the 2018 Camry hybrid automatically charges the batteries when braking or decelerating similar to that of an F1 car.
The 2018 Camry Hybrid isn’t that new, its been around for a decade!
First introduced in 2008 to the UAE in limited numbers, initially, the Camry Hybrid underwent harsh tests under the watchful eye of fleet operators to see how the vehicle would cope with local weather conditions. Having exceeding all expectations including fuel consumption, four years later, the hybrid Camry triumphantly returned once again. However, this time to a broader audience and has been a frequent sight in the Dubai Taxi fleet ever since.
Power comes courtesy of not just a single power plant, but three. Consisting of a 2.5-litre petrol engine and two electric motors, together they produce 208 horsepower. Mated to an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission or e-CVT which Toyota claims offers smooth yet fast gear changes all while simulating a six-speed sequential shift transmission.
The 2018 Camry Hybrid is now available across all Toyota dealerships across the UAE and priced at AED 133,500 including VAT.
