Introduced to the world over two years ago, Bentley’s first SUV has been quite successful especially in the UAE and other GCC countries with its potent W12 motor. But that’s the only petrol power unit available, that is until this year as the 2018 Bentley Bentayga lineup will expand to two petrol units with a V8 being made available alongside the W12.
What to expect from the 2018 Bentley Bentayga V8
Sources indicate a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 bellows beneath the bonnet. Mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, 542 horsepower is channelled to each corner. This allows the ultra-luxurious SUV to launch to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds before hitting a top speed of 290 km/h.
The V8 won’t be the only new engine joining the 2018 Bentley Bentayga lineup. Although not confirmed for this year, a plug-in hybrid is on its way and will make its debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
How can one figure out if that 2018 Bentley Bentayga parked at the valet parking stand at City Walk is a V8 without lifting the bonnet? Bentley has also thought about that and has added a few differences for you to look out for.
Staring with the rear, quad exhaust pipes stick out of the rear end instead of larger oval ones and a unique set of 22-inch alloy rims adorn each corner masking optional ceramic brakes.
Take a peek inside and you may spot a new glossy carbon fibre finish complemented by a cricket ball leather finish and a new steering wheel with wood and leather finishes. Of course, these are not the only finishes available as Bentley offers a long list for customers to choose from.
Bentley has yet to pinpoint when exactly the V8 will join the lineup, although it is expected to debut in the GCC towards the end of the year.
