After a handful of teases and a few spy shots here and there, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS has been officially revealed.
Featuring bold new exterior styling, inside, the new executive sedan is heavily influenced by the opulent E-Class plus a few unique features have been implemented for good measure.
This includes ambient lighting which not only lights up the dashboard, door panels and centre console; the redesigned air vents are now surrounded and briefly change colour depending on the temperature. Red for warmer and blue for cooler.
Spread across the dashboard is not one but two 12.3-inch screens. One serves as the digitally enhanced dashboard cluster while the second acts as a multimedia hub. Upon further inspection, the entire system appears to be curved
For the first time, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS is a five-seater instead of the traditional four-seater.
Safety wise, the new 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS borrows plenty of tech from the range-topping S-Class. Just to name a few; Lane Keeping Assist, Speed Limit Assist, Active Brake Assist and PRE-SAFE are all available as standard.
And if that is not enough, there are plenty of optional extras. Active Steering Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist and the Driving Assistance Package plus more.
Adoring the front end are a set of multibeam LED headlights with Ultra Range high beam projecting light 650 metres ahead of the vehicle giving drivers a clear view of what’s ahead.
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS range is available with three unique engines, one petrol and two diesel. Staring with the CLS 450 4Matic, hiding beneath its elegant exterior is an all-new straight six petrol motor aided by a 48-volt onboard electric system.
The petrol part generates 362 horsepower, and 500 Nm of torque and the electric motor adds an extra 21 horses and 250 Nm of torque bring the total up to 383 hp and 750 Nm. This allows the elegant sedan to zip to 100 km/h in a brisk 4.8 seconds.
Additionally, an electrified version is rumoured to join the ranks and is said to be making its global debut at next years Detroit Motor Show. Known as the CLS 53 hybrid, reports suggest 429 horsepower is what we can look forward too.
2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS kicks off with Edition 1 series
Want your new 2019 CLS to stand out from the rest? Mercedes have announced a Special Edition 1 series complete with Copper Art interior with Black Pearl Nappa leather covering the seats, copper accents with contrasting stitching highlighting critical elements of the interior.
An IWC analogue clock adorns the dashboard while the car key is finished in gloss black. Furthermore, special Edition 1 floor mats, Edition 1 engraved into the centre column and Edition 1 graphics when starting the car.
Based on the potent AMG line, exterior wise, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS benefits from multi-spoke dark 19-inch alloys, unique Edition 1 badges and intelligent LED headlights.
2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS models will go on sale next year.
