Jeep’s Wrangler Pickup or Scambler model is as highly anticipated as the standard SUV and will reportedly be offered with a soft top convertible roof.
This new roof option will allow owners to lower or completely remove the roof similar to that of the standard Wrangler SUV although there is no confirmation if the unit will be automated or manual. Most likely the system will be manual folding similar to units that are currently available.
With such an option on the list, the Wrangler pickup will certainly be a stand out in the pickup segment as it will be one if not the only model available with such an option.
We’ve been informed that this will be just one of three unique roof options available. Besides the soft-top, customers will be able to choose between an unpainted black unit or a three-piece hardtop body coloured roof.
2018 Wrangler Pickup engine lineup
Engines will be identical to the 2018 Wrangler lineup meaning those eyeing up the off-road pick-up can choose between a 3.6-litre petrol V6, 3.0-litre diesel V6 and the rumoured turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0 Hurricane engine. Manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer as usual as will four-wheel drive.
Lining the Wrangler and Wrangler pickup side by side, the latter measures in around 18% longer to accommodate the new bed.
Expect to hear more about the new Wrangler pickup next week as FCA will fully reveal the model during the LA Auto Show along with the 2018 Jeep Wrangler.
