Ferrari has said on multiple occasions that they will “never” build an SUV or crossover for that matter. Those holding out for one will have to settle for the next best thing; a Maserati Levante GTS.
Spotted wearing little camouflage, both the front and rear end appear more aggressive with the front end benefitting from larger air intakes while the rear appears to have a new bumper.
Current Levante SUV’s draw power from a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 which churns out 424 horsepower and 579 Nm of torque in S trim. This leaves us with one burning question.
What’s hiding underneath the bonnet of the Maserati Levante GTS?
Rumour has it, a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 borrowed from the Quattroporte hides underneath the bonnet. Rated at 523 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, Maserati would have to tweak the engine ever so slightly to keep up with the 567 hp BMW X5M and 550 hp Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
Not only will the model benefit from a larger engine, it is also expected to be fitted with larger brakes, a sports suspension system, larger alloys and a rigid chassis to keep up with the increased power.
With an extra kick sent to each corner, expect a 0-100 km/h sprint time of less than 5.2 seconds and a higher top speed. There is also word the Maserati Levante GTS could benefit from a new sports exhaust system.
Expect the Maserati Levante GTS to make it’s worldwide debut early next year.
Dubicars.com has new Maserati Levante and used Maserati Levante for sale in Dubai.
