Audi has big plans for their recently branded Quattro GmbH. Now going under the Audi Sport banner, the powerhouse wants to launch another five models by 2020 for a healthy total of 16 in total.
Currently, Audi Sport produced 11 models. This includes both R8 coupe and convertible models, RS3 sedan and hatchback vehicles, RS5 coupe, RS7 Sportback, TT RS coupe and convertible cars, RS Q3, RS4 Avant and RS6 Avant.
If you’re wondering about the S8 Plus, Audi Sport does have their hands in the model, but it’s not ‘officially’ part of the list.
Part of the lineup does include the recently unveiled RWS Audi R8. Just 999 units will be built, and this is the first time Audi will offer a rear-wheel drivetrain bolted to the traditional 5.2-litre V10 petrol rated at 532 horsepower. This allows for a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3.7 seconds in coupe form and 3.8 with a convertible roof.
What does Audi Sport have in mind?
While there is no official announcement, it’s safe to assume an RS5 Cabriolet is part of the additions along with enhanced versions of their crossover/SUV to join in on the fun including the new Audi Q8.
There is still one burning question we have. That Audi R8 spotted in Europe not too long ago, is it part of this new lineup or something else entirely.
We should find out sooner rather than later about these new Audi Sport models. Stay tuned.
