The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is not only the German manufacturers’ most potent vehicle to date, it has recently been crowned “King of the Ring rear-wheel drive edition.”
Lars Kern and Nick Tandy took to the Nurburgring in two 911 GT RS cars and traversed the mammoth 20.6km circuit in just 6 minutes and 47.3 seconds.
Stealing the crown from the Lamborghini Hurcan Performante, the GT2 RS is just 1.4 seconds slower than the all-electric NextEV Nio EP9.
Other sports cars GT2 RS models triumphed over includes the Nissan GT-R Nismo, Dodge Viper ACR-Extreme, Mercedes-AMG GT R and Porsche’s very own hybrid supercar; the 918 Spyder.
Porsche’s most powerful and fastest street-legal sports car made its worldwide debut earlier this year at the iconic Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom.

What makes it a record-breaking machine is a flat six-cylinder biturbo petrol engine rated at a mega 700 horsepower. Weighing in at an impressive 1,470 kilos (with a full load of fuel), Porsche 911 GT2 RS models sprint to 100 km/h in a mind-blowing 2.8 seconds and is more than capable of hitting a top speed of 340 km/h.
Comparing the new 911 GT2 RS to its former self, drivers are treated to 80 more horsepower and 50 Nm of torque extra.
Just a heads up, if you want to buy a new 911 GT2 RS you’re out of luck as each one is accounted for. Don’t expect these models to be cheap when they hit the second-hand market as not only is it a beast, Porsche don’t plan on mass producing the model.
