Spotted earlier this year, the 2018 S-Class will be revealed later this month of the 28th of August at Manarat Al Saadiyat. Along with the unveiling, we’ll be treated to two returning nameplates.
Serving as a mid-cycle refresh, 2018 models receive slightly revised bumpers, headlights with a new design and new rim designs for each corner.
All of these changes are available throughout the range including base level models, AMG versions and the range topping Maybach variants.
While there are subtle changes inside, the most significant is in plain view of drivers. Gone is the cruise control lever which has now conveniently merged with the steering wheel.
Instead of fiddling with a stalk, touch sensitive buttons allow drivers to activate the system, change speed and everything else in between.
S450 models will boast a 3-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V6 rated at 362 horsepower. A 4-litre twin-turbo V8 powers the S560 churning out 463 hp and 700 Nm or torque. Both motors channel power to the rear axle via a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
Mercedes’s range topping executive sedan features a wide range of technological advancements. This includes an all-new adaptive cruise control system that utilises map data fed from the built in computer; this allows the S-Class to automatically slow down for roundabouts and corners.
The system also works alongside with active lane-change system to conveniently change tracks with a quick tap of the indicator stalk.
Although changes may appear subtle, the Mercedes-Benz 2018 S-Class will be a winner no matter what.
