Next-gen Mercedes-AMG A 45 models have been spotted by budding spy photographers leading us to believe an uncloaking is not far off. We’ve heard how much horsepower Mercedes plan to pump through its veins, but what about features?
Cloaked in heavy camo, it’s evident Mercedes have lowered the hot hatch and widened the body. In terms of what’s new, a clear picture has yet to be revealed. However, new headlights are visible.
We’re also aware that it will ride on a new platform known as MFA and co-developed with Renault.
Since its launch in 2013, the Mercedes-AMG A 45 has been the most powerful hot hatch available. As the years went by, Mercedes has been under immense pressure from the likes of Volkswagen, Ford and others regarding power.
With Audi’s latest offering of the RS3 Sportback producing 394 horsepower, Mercedes are said to be offering at least 400 horses with the next AMG A 45.
Amazingly, Mercedes are not looking at dumping a new engine in the front but rather they will retain the current four-cylinder 2-litre turbo motor driving each of the four wheels.
While they are currently working hard ensuring upcoming A 45’s will be unbeatable, sources indicate an even more powerful model is in the works. Don’t bank on a V6 motor though.
Mercedes-AMG A 45 models are expected to debut early or mid-2018 as a 2018 or 2019 model. Sales should commence shortly afterwards with pre-order books opening upon its worldwide premier.
