Suzuki has already confirmed a new Swift Sport is on the way. With only one picture to go by not much was known about the model. That’s all changed with the Japanese manufacturer releasing a fresh batch of images.
Hot hatch fans will welcome with open arms bucket racing seats, enhanced dashboard, flat bottomed sports steering wheel, red highlights and most notably a six-speed manual gearbox.
They’ve also released a close up of the instrument panel showcase a colour display with a boost gauge. Suzuki is dropping the current 1.6-litre naturally aspirated motor in favour for a 1.4-litre turbocharged four cylinder Boosterjet petrol engine. In its present form, the engine is found in Grand Vitara models and produces 134 horsepower.
We’ve also been treated to a single shot of the rear end which mostly consists of the lower half. Clearly visible are two round exhaust pipes sticking out of either side of a sporty rear diffuser.
Rumour has it, Suzuki’s latest iteration of the Swift Sport hatchback weighs in at an impressive 870 kilos. If these numbers are correct, the hot hatch bears an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 159hp per ton!
As we posted recently, Suzuki Swift Sport hot hatches will make their world wide debut later this year in Frankfurt. Now we wait patiently not only for its launch but reviews to see how the model stacks up against the rest; notably the Volkswagen Polo GTi, Ford Fiesta ST amongst others.
